Michael grew up on a dairy farm and studied veterinary medicine at University College Dublin. He has been with Riverview since 1993 and has a special interest in bovine reproduction, having worked with Premier Embryos Ireland, and infectious disease control, an area which he has worked with Animal Health Laboratories Ireland on. Alongside his practice management responsibilities and caseload, he is actively involved with Cork Veterinary Clinical Society, the Cattle Association of Veterinary Ireland, Animal Health Ireland and the World Buiatrics Congress. From 2008 to 2009, he was also the president of Veterinary Ireland, and he spent six years on the advisory committee of the Veterinary Defense Society, before going on to complete a master’s degree in bovine viral disease surveillance. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and pets.
